Vol. 481 No. 4

Written Answers. - Nursing Staff.

Michael Creed

Question:

151 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will commission an investigation into nursing staff levels at the Cork University Hospital, including a comparative analysis with other similar teaching hospitals of similar size; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16369/97]

Nursing and other staff levels at Cork University Hospital are a matter for the Southern Health Board, which has the primary responsibility for prioritising its requirements for enhancements-improvements in services at the hospital. Such priority requirements as are identified to my Department by the board will be considered as sympathetically as possible, within the context of the many competing demands for resources.
