Question:

83 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Defence the total amount of money spent on purchases of army, FCA and Naval uniforms over the past five years; the total cost of combat uniforms purchased; and the total number of combat uniforms over the same period. [18320/97]

The total expenditure on purchases of uniforms for the Army, FCA and Naval Service over the period 1993-97 inclusive amounted to £10,680,000 (£8,750,000, Army; £1,400,000, FCA; and £530,000, Naval Service).

The total cost of combat uniforms and the quantities purchased over the same period are as follows:
