105 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Education and Science when a school building was first sanctioned for Gael Scoil Pheig Sayers; the progress, if any, through the planning stages achieved to date; and the projected cost of that project. [18294/97]
A building project for Gael Scoil Pheig Sayers was included in my Department's 1995 Capital Programme for planning. However, no funding was provided in 1995, 1996 or 1997. My Department has since purchased a site for the proposed new school. The sketch scheme has been finalised and agreed with the school management. A quantity surveyor has been appointed and his duties include the preparation of a cost plan for the project.
I have recently held a meeting with the school and I intend to include this project in the 1998 programme.
