178 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the current number of REP scheme applications being dealt with by the Navan office, County Meath; the current number of applications under the control of farm pollution scheme; the current number of applications under the alternative enterprise and farm improvements programme; and the numbers for each scheme which have been approved to date. The position as of 31 October in respect of each of the schemes referred to by the Deputy is set out as follows:

In addition, under the farm improvement programme which was closed in December 1994, there are still a number of farmers carrying out work relevant to that measure. At 7 November 1997 there are 14 applications to commence work awaiting approval under this scheme.
