Vol. 482 No. 6

Written Answers. - Urban Renewal Scheme.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

322 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the criteria on which towns or parts of towns will qualify for preparation of integrated area plans leading to designation under the new urban renewal scheme. [18892/97]

The criteria for the selection and prioritisation of areas for integrated area plans for the purposes of the new urban renewal scheme were issued in draft form earlier this year as part of more wide ranging draft guidelines for the scheme, a copy of which is available in the Oireachtas Library.

The draft guidelines are now being considered by an expert panel which I established last month to advise me on aspects of the new scheme. I expect to be in a position to finalise the guidelines very shortly, having regard to the panel's recommendations.
