Written Answers. - Packaging Directive.
The Waste Management (Packaging) Regulations, 1997 impose obligations on producers of packaging to take measures for the recovery of packaging waste. These regulations, together with the Waste Management (Planning) Regulations, 1997, implement Articles 6, 11 and 14 of EU Directive 94/62/EC on packaging and packaging waste. Proposals for further regulations and other necessary measures to give full effect to the Directive are being developed in my Department.
