336 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the number of people who are currently in receipt of lone parent's allowance. [18865/97]

Payments are made in respect of 91,341 children.
The lone parent's allowance was replaced by the one-parent family payment on 2 January 1997. This new scheme also incorporates deserted wife's allowance and prisoner's wife's allowance.
