Vol. 482 No. 6
392 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he has received the survey on the condition of swimming pools; and if so, the decisions, if any, being made on that survey. [18752/97]
399 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he will introduce minimum operating standards for indoor swimming pool facilities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18759/97]
400 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he will introduce a project to address the problems identified in the public swimming pools condition survey; and the proposals, if any, he has in this regard. [18760/97]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 392, 399 and 400 together. As I am not aware of any recent survey on the condition of swimming pools in Ireland, I am assuming that the Deputy is referring to the observations and recommendations made in the strategic plan for sport entitled "Targeting Sporting Change in Ireland" published earlier this year.
Arrangements are already in train for the transfer of responsibility for the provision and refurbishment of public swimming pools which currently resides with my colleague, the Minister for the Environment and Local Government, Deputy Dempsey, to my Department in January 1998. I will, at that stage, be in a better position to give due consideration to the recommendations of the strategic plan in relation to swimming pools.
