Vol. 482 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Transport.

John Ellis

Question:

447 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department will provide school transport for a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim to Mohill national school. [18720/97]

Because he is not attending his nearest national school, the pupil referred to by the Deputy is entitled to concessionary fare-paying transport only in respect of attendance at Mohill national school. Concessionary fare-paying transport may be allowed after all eligible pupils have been catered for and subject to accommodation being available on the bus. Unfortunately, the service in question is full to capacity at present. However, the availability of concessionary fare-paying accommodation may change from term to term. Tickets are issued on a first come first served basis and the family may apply to the local Bus Éireann office should spare seats become available for next term.
