Vol. 482 No. 6

Written Answers. - Ministerial Committee on Sellafield.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

27 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she has maintained the Government committee on Sellafield and the Irish Sea; the person who chairs the committee; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [16297/97]

On 21 October 1997 the Government approved the establishment of a ministerial committee on Sellafield. I envisage that the committee will be chaired by me and be representative of Ministers in the Departments of the Environment and Local Government, Marine, and Health and Children. It will review radiological protection policies generally and examine how best to co-ordinate the Government's campaign against Sellafield.
