Question:

161 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Finance the level of funding contained in the Estimates for 1998 to improve access for people with disabilities, including wheelchair users, to the public buildings under the aegis of his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19649/97]

It is anticipated that expenditure in 1998 under the programme to improve access facilities to public buildings for disabled persons will be £1 million.

In addition all new buildings, office fit-outs and any major refurbishment schemes will include provision of full access for disabled persons.
