Vol. 482 No. 8

Written Answers. - Boundary Extensions.

Liam Burke

Question:

178 Mr. L. Burke asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if the whole question of boundary extensions needs to be reviewed and a national policy drawn up to reflect the true size of cities and towns; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19528/97]

Boundary extensions are governed by the provisions of Part V of the Local Government Act, 1991, and associated regulations. Under these provisions, it is open to any local authority to make a proposal for a boundary extension. I am satisfied that these procedures are adequate.
