Vol. 482 No. 8

Written Answers. - Citizenship Applications.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

87 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs whether a person (details supplied) who applied and was granted naturalisation under the invesment based naturalisation scheme in 1988 was issued with a passport as stated in the reply to Parliamentary Question No. 374 of 12 November 1997; whether normal procedures were followed in relation to this application; if not, if he will give details of the normal procedures in this regard; and the reason for the noncompliance in this regard. [19682/97]

The Passport Office is not in a position to distinguish between naturalised Irish citizens who acquire citizenship on the basis of investment and those who acquire it on some other basis. Unless I know the name of the person who is the subject of the Deputy's question, I regret that I cannot give him the information he has requested.
