267 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the total mileage of non-national roads in each local authority; the allocations to each local authority from the Exchequer for non national roads for each of the years from 1995 to date in 1997 and projected for 1998; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The total length of non-national roads in each local authority area, expressed in kilometres, based on information supplied by the local authorities, is set out in table 1.

Details of grants payments to all local authorities for non-national roads for 1995 and 1996 are contained in the booklet State Grant Payments to Local Authorities for National, Non-National and Non-Public Accommodation Roads and own resources expenditure by Local Authorities on National and Non-National Roads in the period 1989-1997 which is available in the Oireachtas Library. Details of payments to date in 1997 are set out in table 2 below.

Road grant allocations for individual local authorities for non-national roads for 1998 have not yet been determined but will be announced as early as possible in 1998.
