Vol. 483 No. 6

Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

Mary Coughlan

Question:

198 Ms Coughlan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the average costs which are attached to an application for the REPS scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21359/97]

My Department has no function in the fee levied by the planner for preparing an agri-environmental plan for a farmer wishing to participate in REPS. The Department's main involvement is to ensure that there are an adequate number of planners available to provide a service to farmers. At present there are 243 private planning agencies employing 521 approved planners and 27 Teagasc offices employing 356 approved planners.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

199 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when REPS payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Meath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21360/97]

An application for a third year REPS payment in this case is being processed and payment will be made shortly.
