Vol. 483 No. 6

Written Answers. - Corporation Tax.

Richard Bruton

Question:

250 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance the impact of the British decision to abolish advance corporation tax on the relative competitive position of Irish headquartered companies; the cost of the abolishing advance corporation tax in Ireland; and if he will urgently open discussions with the social partners on the desirability of abolition. [21172/97]

I have been unable in the time available to undertake a full assessment of this recently proposed change in the UK. The Deputy will appreciate the pressure of other work at this time in preparing for the budget. I will, however, communicate with the Deputy as soon as possible.
