Vol. 483 No. 6

Written Answers. - Renovation Grants.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

305 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the most recent date on which renovation grants were available towards house repairs; and if he will reintroduce a similar type of grant in the near future. [21323/97]

The most recent general house improvement grant scheme was terminated on 27 March 1987 but payments in respect of applications on hands continued after that date. A range of targeted measures such as disabled persons and essential repairs grants continue to be available.

I am examining the options for a targeted house improvement grant scheme for low income households having regard to the range of measures currently available and the likely cost implications.
