Vol. 483 No. 6

Written Answers. - Commission on Devolution.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

306 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of times the Commission on devolution has met since he came to office; and when their next report will become available. [21326/97]

The Devolution Commission has not met in the period since 26 June 1997. I am making arrangements for the transfer of responsibility to my Department of all matters relating to the work of the commission. Re-establishment of the commission will be considered in the context of overall policies for the renewal of local government renewal which I am pursuing.
