Vol. 483 No. 6

Written Answers. - Swimming Pool Projects.

Jack Wall

Question:

309 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will ensure that Athy swimming pool, County Kildare, will be included for funding for refurbishment work under his Department's programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21398/97]

Capital funding of £26,565 was provided by my Department to Kildare County Council in the period 1994 to 1996 for minor refurbishment works at this swimming pool.

There is a current proposal from the council before my Department for major refurbishment of the pool at a cost of £1.061 million. Having regard to the high level of demand for swimming pool funding generally, it is not possible to indicate when capital funding will be available for the Athy swimming pool.
