Vol. 483 No. 6

Written Answers. - National Monuments.

Enda Kenny

Question:

347 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the plans, if any, she has for the development of Moran's Mill, Ballinrobe, County Mayo, acquired by the Office of Public Works in 1996; and if she will give a time scale for its commencement. [21339/97]

The National Monuments and Historic Properties Service of my Department has completed basic maintenance and security works to protect Moran's Mill. An architectural survey and engineering assessment of the property is being undertaken to determine the nature and extent of the works required to restore the property and, in due course, to present it to the public. This will be a major project requiring substantial resources over a number of years and it is too early to say when it might proceed.
