Vol. 483 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Bernard Allen

Question:

448 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation when a £5,000 grant will be paid to a club (details supplied) in County Cork in view of the fact that all the required documentation has been submitted. [20963/97]

In line with standard procedures, payment of this grant is subject to the club providing specific information and documentation confirming that the development as carried out complies with the terms and conditions of the scheme. When all the necessary data has been supplied, arrangements can proceed for payment.

John Bruton

Question:

449 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if his Department will provide funding towards the construction of a community centre in Dunshaughlin, County Meath, where the local community has already raised £150,000 towards the project and funding has been secured from the national lottery, and where at least another £150,000 is required to complete the project. [21092/97]

The centre has already been allocated £225,000 under the sports capital programme — £150,000 in 1995 and £75,000 in 1997. Tender documents for the building of the centre are currently under examination in my Department and the position regarding the shortfall of funds to complete the project will have to be clarified by the organising committee in this context. Meanwhile, 1997 grants under the sports capital programme have been allocated and all available funds are now committed to existing projects.
