Vol. 483 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Seán Haughey

Question:

451 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if an application for lottery funding was received in 1997 under the recreational and major facilities scheme from two organisations (details supplied) in Dublin 5 and 3; when applications will be sought again under these schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21314/97]

The first organisation applied for a grant of £70,000 under the sports capital programme in June 1997 towards the development of sports and leisure facilities.

The 1997 grants under the programme were allocated in May 1997 and all available funds are committed to existing projects. Consequently, it will not be possible to consider any new applications until the next round of grant approvals.

With regard to the second organisation, my Department has no record of receiving an application from them under the sports capital programme.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

453 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he will provide a recreation grant to Lisdoonan development association. [21462/97]

A recent application for funding under the sports capital programme was received from this group in November 1997. The 1997 grants under the programme have been allocated and all available funds are now committed to existing projects. My Department will be writing to the association in the near future regarding the eligibility of their application for future funding.
