Andrew Boylan

Question:

465 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the condition of the surface of the Milltown national school playground and entrance driveway; his views on the expressed concerns of parents , teachers and the board of management, that temporary repairs in this case would be a gross and waste of public funds; if he will give an indication as to when a proper play area will be developed at Milltown national school, in the interest of safety for all concerned. [21023/97]

My Department has recently received an application for grant assistance towards the cost of resurfacing the playground and entrance at Milltown national school, and is aware of the concerns expressed. The Office of Public Works has been asked to report on the works sought and, when this report is received, and considered, my Department will be in touch with the school management.
