94 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he has completed his review of the passports for investment scheme and procedures for naturalisation generally; when it is expected that he will bring proposals to Government in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

444 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will introduce legislation giving statutory authority to the issue of passports for investment scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21578/97]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 45, 94 and 444 together.

The Government has asked me to bring forward a report on the general issue of the future of the investment based scheme. As part of that exercise, the criteria followed in each case are being examined. That report is being finalised at present and I expect to be in a position to bring it to Government shortly.
