Question:

137 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Defence if moneys are due to his Department from the United Nations in relation to overseas peacekeeping duties by the Irish Army; and, if so, the amount involved in this regard. [21542/97]

The total amount currently due to the Department of Defence from the United Nations in relation to overseas peacekeeping duties by members of the Permanent Defence Force is approximately £10.7 million. The amount outstanding is the subject of ongoing representations to the United Nations by the Department of Defence and the Department of Foreign Affairs.
