Vol. 484 No. 1

Written Answers. - Sports Developments.

Question:

61 Mr. Coveney asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if the all-island planning forum in partnership with the Sports Council for Northern Ireland has been set up in order to co-ordinate the development of sport on the island; and, if so, if it has pinpointed the areas to be addressed in this regard. [21283/97]

The chairman of the Irish Sports Council and officials of my Department are in consultation with the Sports Council for Northern Ireland exploring a range of areas and possibilities for the development of sport on an all-island basis. I will consider the outcomes of these consultations with a view to ensuring a more cohesive and co-ordinated approach in future to sports planning and development in Ireland.
