Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Michael Creed

Question:

101 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his Department will increase the grant aid sanctioned to an organisation (details supplied) in Cork for social housing; if his Department has received a request for an increase in the grant aid; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21633/97]

Paul Bradford

Question:

103 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his Department will approve the request for grant aid of a group (details supplied) in County Cork. [21654/97]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 101 and 103 together.

I take it the question relates to the provision of housing by this body at Broad Street, Charleville, County Cork, for which a grant of £162,000 was approved last July under the voluntary housing capital assistance scheme.

Any application for an increase in the grant, as a result of the higher levels of assistance under this scheme which I recently announced, will be considered when received from Cork County Council which is responsible for the detailed administration of the scheme in the area.

Jack Wall

Question:

102 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his Department will provide funding to Kildare County Council for the refurbishment of the Parc Mhuire Flats, Newbridge, County Kildare. [21653/97]

Following discussion between technical officers of the council and my Department, the council was to review its proposals for these flats. The outcome of the review is awaited.
