Vol. 484 No. 4

Written Answers - Remedial Teaching.

Jack Wall

Question:

118 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of remedial teachers in south Kildare; the number of schools with a full time remedial teacher; the number of schools that have a shared remedial teacher; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22385/97]

Information relating specifically to the south Kildare area is not readily available in my Department. The position relating to County Kildare as a whole is as follows: Eighty-two of the 93 primary schools in the county have a remedial teaching service. Twenty-four of the 82 schools have a full-time remedial teacher. The remaining 58 schools have a remedial service on a shared basis. Twelve ex-quota remedial posts have been allocated to second-level schools in County Kildare.
