Vol. 484 No. 4

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business, I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy Sargent. I now call on Deputy Sargent to state the matter of which he has given notice to me.

I wish to move the adjournment of today's Dáil business under Standing Order 31 to allow the House to draw up measures to ensure the Fianna Fáil-Progressive Democrats Government increases investment in primary education given that, despite years of general economic prosperity, Ireland continues to maintain the highest pupil-teacher ratio of all OECD countries.

Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be contemplated by Standing Order 31. Therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.
