Vol. 484 No. 4

Written Answers - Local Authority Housing.

Jim Higgins

Question:

90 Mr. Higgins (Mayo): asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the current position regarding final approval of plans for the upgrading of Tooraree housing scheme, Ballyhaunis, County Mayo. [22448/97]

This estate has been designated for funding under the remedial works scheme. Costings and drawings of the proposed works were received in my Department today and are being examined.

Alan Shatter

Question:

91 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government whether he has received the report of the Inspector who held an inquiry into the construction of a halting site and housing development at Ballyboden Road at the back of Boden Park Estate, County Dublin; if his attention has been drawn to the widespread opposition to the construction of a halting site of the nature proposed at this location; if he intends to sanction this development; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22449/97]

I presume the Deputy is referring to the proposed permanent residential caravan park for travellers and a local authority housing development at Ballyboden Road. An oral hearing held in accordance with the compulsory purchase order and environmental impact statement procedures was held on 8 October 1997. The receipt of the inspector's report is awaited and accordingly no decision has been made. I can confirm that a number of representations in respect of these proposals have been received.
