Vol. 485 No. 1

Suspension of Member.

I move: "That Deputy Ferris be suspended from the service of the Dáil."

Question put.

Deputies

Vótáil.

Under Standing Order 61 the division claimed is postponed until before the Order of Business on the next sitting day. The Deputy is suspended.

On a point of order, if the vote is postponed until next Tuesday, it seems highly illogical that the Deputy is suspended in the meantime. He is either suspended or he is not suspended.

That is the Standing Order laid down by the House.

If that is the new Standing Order, it is the most bizarre Standing Order I have ever heard.

This is zero tolerance.

We will not discuss Standing Orders here. I am obliged to apply Standing Orders.

(Interruptions.)
Deputy Ferris withdrew from the Chamber.
