101 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the average prison sentence given to persons convicted under the Misuse of Drugs Act, 1977 with possession of more than £10,000 worth of illegal drugs. [22529/97]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 100 and 101 together.
The information sought by the Deputy is not readily available and to extract it would require the manual examination of a large number of files, both by the courts and the prison service. Such a use of staff resources could not be justified at present.
