Ivan Yates

Question:

144 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a special beef premium and other outstanding area aid payments for the year 1996 and to date in 1997 will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; and if his Department will expedite this matter. [23171/97]

The person named made three applications under the special beef premium scheme for 1996. A ten month application in respect of five animals on 12 January 1996, a 22 month application in respect of 19 animals on 12 January 1996 and a further ten month application in respect of ten animals on 28 November 1996.

On the basis of his 1996 area aid application, he was entitled to receive payment on a maximum of 42.44 livestock units; 22.2 of these livestock units were accounted for by his ewe premium application leaving a balance of 20.24 livestock units or 33.73 animals for payment under the 1996 special beef premium schemes. The person named has been paid a total of £3,041.43 under the 1996 special beef premium schemes which is his full entitlement.

The person named applied for 12 animals in January 1997 under the 1997 special beef premium scheme. The 1997 area aid application from the person named is in the final stages of processing. Payments will issue, based on the result of a random area aid inspection in the near future.

145 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be paid his 1997 headage and premia grants. [23172/97]

The following payments have now issued to the person named: £694 in respect of 1997 cattle headage application; £700 in respect of 1997 sheep headage application; and £388.96 in respect of 1997 suckler cow premium application.

146 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be paid her 1997 cattle headage grant. [23173/97]

The person named applied on five animals under the 1997 cattle headage scheme. At an inspection of 7 August 1997, four animals were presented and one was absent. Investigations regarding the missing animal are ongoing at present and the person named will be informed of the results of these investigations as soon as they are completed.

The area aid application for the person concerned has been randomly selected for inspection in accordance with EU regulations. The result of the inspection should be available shortly, and payment will then issue subject to the inspection results being satisfactory.

This case was concluded on 11 November 1997. The herdowner was notified in writing of the outcome of the appeal on that date.

166 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment under the suckler cow and headage schemes will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny. [23234/97]

A payment of £1,093.79, dated 17 December 1997, has now issued to the person named in respect of his 1997 suckler cow scheme and he will be paid his 1997 cattle headage grant before Christmas.
