Vol. 485 No. 3

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Michael Ring

Question:

190 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called for a tonsillectomy in view of the fact that she has been waiting for over three months and she is currently on her eighth course of antibiotics, the delay is affecting her studies for her leaving certificate and the health board has not replied to the previous parliamentary question placed on this matter. [23217/97]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Mayo is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board in the first instance. I have made inquiries of the Western Health Board and I understand that the board has now written directly to the Deputy in relation to this case on foot of Dáil Question No. 297 of 12 November, 1997.
