Vol. 485 No. 3

Written Answers. - Health Board Offices.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

208 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will ensure that strategic decisions in relation to the location of the new area boards headquarters are taken at an early date in relation to the restructuring of the Eastern Health Board in order that the restructuring can go ahead in the timescale proposed; the body which will have the power to make these decisions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23414/97]

My priority in relation to the new structures for the Eastern Health Board area is to progress legislation to enable the proposed arrangements to be put in place on a statutory basis. The task force on the Eastern Regional Health Authority is currently examining the detailed organisational and administrative arrangements which will be required for the transition to the new structures and I will be advised by the task force, in due course, in relation to the matters referred to by the Deputy.
