211 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will provide details of the number of children currently in care in each health board area; and if he will give details of the waiting lists for assessments in each case. [23417/97]
Details of the number of children in care in each of the health boards on 31 December 1996 has been collected from the health boards. This information is currently being collated by my Department and will be available early in the new year. I will forward a copy of same to the Deputy as soon as it becomes available.
Information on the number of children on waiting lists for assessments in each health board area is not routinely collected by the health boards. Perhaps the Deputy would write to me if she has particular concerns in this regard.
