Vol. 486 No. 4

Written Answers. - National Monuments.

Michael Ferris

Question:

115 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if his attention has been drawn to the condition of the site at Longstone Cullen, County Tipperary; if his Department will carry out works to make this historical area, which was excavated between 1973 and 1976, more accessible to the public; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [2435/98]

Dúchas, the heritage service of my Department, carries out routine maintenance works to the monuments at Longstone Cullen and further works are programmed for this year. As the monuments are bordered by privately-owned lands, there is no formal public access at present but it is my policy to endeavour to provide for public access to national monuments where possible.
