Vol. 486 No. 4

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

127 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will ensure that a dealing regarding a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim be expedited urgently. [2879/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49 — for example, acquisition of title by virtue of long possession — of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged on 2 September 1997. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of the applicant's claim for registration as owner, take some time to process. I can confirm that the Land Registry will do everything possible to expedite the resolution of this application.
