I propose to take Questions Nos. 17 and 18 together.

My confirmed international travel plans up to June 1998, are as follows: annual dinner of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, London, 26 February 1998; launch of the Irish Post's Business '98 publication, London, 27 February 1998; the European Conference on Enlargement Negotiations, London, 12 March 1998; a visit to Canada and the USA for St. Patrick's Day, 13 to 19 March 1998; the Asia Europe Summit, London, 3 to 4 April 1998; the Special European Council on Economic and Monetary Union, Brussels, 2 to 3 May 1998; and the June European Council, Cardiff, 15 to 16 June 1998.

A visit to the Russian Federation in the first half of 1998 is planned but as yet unconfirmed.

In the context of EU related visits I will meet with President Santer.
