Vol. 487 No. 5

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

John McGuinness

Question:

90 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his Department will review the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny in relation to payments due to him under the 1994 sheep headage scheme, in view of the fact that this person disputes some of the details on the form; if his Department will arrange a meeting between this person and a departmental official and the inspector involved in the case; and if he will make a full statement on the matter in view of the incomplete answer given by him to Parliamentary Question No. 166 of 16 December 1997 which also related to the wrong year. [4500/98]

Following an inspection of the flock of the person named, he did not qualify for any payment under the 1994 scheme as the difference between the number of sheep declared on his application form and the number of sheep which were found eligible at the inspection exceeded 20 per cent. A meeting between the person named and officials of the local office at Government Buildings, Hebron Road, Kilkenny, to discuss the matter can be arranged if he rings the Department's local office at 056-72400.

In regard to the answer to the previous parliamentary question, as the question did not specify the scheme year it was assumed that the question related to the 1979 scheme and the reply was given on this basis.
