Question:

181 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will have arrangements made for a hospital bed in Dublin to be provided for a person (details supplied) to enable him to return home from the United Kingdom following a stroke. [5346/98]

210 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children the steps, if any, he will take to assist a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 who is in hospital in England after suffering a stroke while on a Christmas visit and cannot be transferred to a hospital in Dublin despite the need for urgent treatment because of a shortage of beds and could be waiting a number of months before being allowed home; and if he will take exceptional steps to deal with this case in view of the very distressing special circumstances. I understand that arrangements have been made to transfer the patient concerned to St. James's Hospital, Dublin on Thursday, 26 February next.

182 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will have arrangements made for a person (details supplied) to be called for an angiogram in view of the fact that the person has been on a waiting list for 12 months; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4553/98]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Sligo is the statutory responsibility of the North-Western Health Board in the first instance. I have asked the chief executive officer of the North-Western Health Board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.

183 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will have arrangements made for a person (details supplied) to be admitted to hospital in view of the fact that she has not eaten for the last 32 days and is urgently in need of medical attention. [4556/98]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons is a matter for the agency concerned in the first instance. I have asked the chief executive officer of the hospital concerned to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
