Vol. 487 No. 6

Written Answers - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Phil Hogan

Question:

226 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he will announce the necessary finance to commence work on the Graiguenamanagh sewerage scheme, County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5127/98]

Liam Aylward

Question:

235 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he will provide funding for treatment and sewerage works at Graiguenamanagh, County Kilkenny, which has been placed first on the priority list by Kilkenny County Council; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4659/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 226 and 235 together.

A preliminary report for this scheme has been approved. Given the high level of commitments under the water and sewerage services investment programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to advance the project.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

227 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the inconvenience and anxiety the lack of running water is creating for residents in the Cappataggle area of Ballinasloe, County Galway; and if he will make available the necessary funding as prioritised by Galway County Council to enable their group scheme to proceed in 1998. [5341/98]

Ulick Burke

Question:

247 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will provide a special contribution of £200,000 towards the Cappataggle group water scheme in County Galway in order that work can start in this long overdue scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4964/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 227 and 247 together.

Block grant allocations in respect of the rural water programme, including allocations for group water scheme capital grants and European Regional Development Fund assistance for schemes approved under the operational programme for Environmental Services, will be notified to local authorities shortly.
