Vol. 487 No. 6

Written Answers - Local Authority Housing.

Proinsias De Rossa

Question:

234 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of fixed interest house purchase loans held by former tenants in each local authority area; and the interest rates applying to these. [4658/98]

As the administration of tenant purchase schemes is a matter for individual local authorities precise details of the number of fixed interest rate loans advanced by each local authority is not available in the Department. However, in recent years, these loans represented something less than 1 per cent of total loans advanced by local authorities for house purchase and were available at fixed rates of between 9 per cent and 10 per cent.
