Vol. 487 No. 6

Written Answers - Public Lighting.

Willie Penrose

Question:

171 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Finance the steps, if any, that are being taken to provide additional public lighting as specified in condition number seven of the recent planning permission granted by Westmeath County Council for reconstruction works associated with the Royal Canal at Moran's Bridge, Mullingar; if an assurance will be given that additional lighting will be provided; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4748/98]

The Commissioners of Public Works propose to substantially improve the standard of lighting at Moran's Bridge. The whole question of the lighting is the subject of ongoing discussions between the Office of Public Works, the Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands on whose behalf the works are being carried out and Westmeath County Council, in accordance with condition number 7 of the planning permission.
