Vol. 487 No. 7

Written Answers. - Redundancy Payments.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

144 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she will review the case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8; and the provisions, if any, that can be made in relation to redundancy payments. [5285/98]

The Redundancy Payments Acts, 1967 to 1991, set down specific requirements in relation to eligibility for the receipt of statutory redundancy entitlements. One of these requirements is that a person must have been in continuous employent for at least 104 weeks.

The person about whom the Deputy inquires was not in continuous employment for 104 weeks and is, as a result, not eligible for a statutory redundancy payment.
