Vol. 487 No. 7

Written Answers. - Defence Forces Posts.

Jack Wall

Question:

168 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Defence the procedures, if any, for filling a vacancy for a sergeant at the transport yard, Clarke Barracks, Curragh, as this position has been vacant for a number of years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5184/98]

Vacancies arising are considered in the overall context of achieving a target strength of 11,500 in the new organisation for the Defence Forces. In this context it is a matter for the military authorities to determine in the light of operational requirements which vacancies may be filled.
