Vol. 487 No. 8

Written Answers. - Hospital Building Projects.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

79 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children the progress, if any, to date on the provision of additional theatre space at Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin, Dublin 12; the proposed timescale for construction; the estimated cost; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5333/98]

A project team, consisting of officials from my Department and representatives of Our Lady's Hospital, recently completed its brief to develop a plan for the provision of additional operating theatres at the hospital.

Detailed consideration of the brief is required before a budget cost can be estimated for the project. The proposed time-scale for construction will be a matter for discussion with the design team, when appointed. It is my intention that the planning and construction process should be completed without delay.
