Vol. 487 No. 8

Written Answers. - Sculptors' Society of Ireland.

Enda Kenny

Question:

98 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if she has received a request from the Sculptors' Society of Ireland to meet with a small deputation to learn of future plans; and, if so, if she will accede to this request in view of the importance of the work being done by the society. [5326/98]

On 19 February, the Sculptors' Society of Ireland wrote seeking to meet with me this week. I had an arrangement to meet with the society at its request as recently as last December but, due to illness that morning, my special adviser and officials met the society on my behalf. I was briefed by them on a number of issues raised at that meeting including the role and activities of the society. The Deputy will appreciate that given the short notice of the request and my current schedule of meetings, I may not be able to accede to the society's request for some weeks.
