Vol. 488 No. 2

Written Answers. - Road Developments.

Alan Shatter

Question:

163 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the reason for the ongoing delay in confirming the compulsory purchase order for the Dundrum by-pass and for the realignment of Ballinteer Road; if his attention has been drawn to the need to provide this new road structure to relieve traffic gridlock in the area; and the date when roadworks will commence. [5949/98]

I will give my decision on the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Compulsory Purchase (Ballinteer Road-Wyckham By-Pass) Order, 1996 and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Compulsory Purchase (Dundrum Main Street By-Pass) Order, 1996, as soon as possible. As my role in these matters is of a quasi-judicial nature, it would not be appropriate for me to comment on any aspects of the schemes at this stage.
