Written Answers - Harbours and Piers.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

48 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the position in regard to the dredging of the harbour at Burtonport, County Donegal. [6068/98]

I made funding available to Donegal County Council in 1997 for the surveys and investigations necessary for the purpose of drawing up a dredging plan for Burtonport harbour. I understand that Donegal County Council has employed a marine engineer to oversee this work.

As soon as the investigations are completed and a dredging plan has been prepared, the definitive proposals will be assessed by my Department in consultation with the county council.
